Educational Preparation for Ordination: THE MODULAR EDUCATION PROGRAM
Program Description
In cooperation with Global Clergy Development, the USA/Canada Region offers the Modular Education Program (formerly, "Modular Course of Study"), one of several non-degree programs designed to meet the Course of Study requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. This curriculum has been validated by the General Board and Board of General Superintendents. Those preparing for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene should contact their respective district offices for further information about the MEP and other paths (degree and non-degree) of preparation for ministry in the Church of the Nazarene.
All MEP courses are embodied in faculty and student guides available for download in English. Some are available in French, Korean, and Spanish as well. Work on translations of all courses continues.
New Course Added
The MEP curriculum now consists of 25 courses with the addition of the course "Foundations for Women's Ordination" (validated 2016). All people seeking ordination (whether as deacon or elde) must complete this new course. At their discretion, district boards may exempt those who are nearing completion of the Course of Study from meeting this added requirement.
Faculty guides contain complete lesson plans for each teaching-learning session, including lectures, discussion guides, small-group activities, and homework assignments. Student guides contain a complete syllabus with extensive bibliography, lesson assignments, public domain resources, classroom handouts, and learning resources.
Some modules include supplemental teaching resources like downloadable reading materials and audio sermons.
